Donald “Don” W. Mesteller, 86, of Temperance, MI, died Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Vibrant Life Senior Living.  Born January 29, 1930, in Newark, NJ, he was the son of Daniel and Hazel (Molnar) Mesteller.  A 1946 graduate of Waite High School, he then proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War.  Don married Shirley Schumaker on August 21, 1954, in Maumee, Ohio.  He was owner and operator of Lucas Appliance Service, retiring in 1986.  Don then worked as a custodian/maintenance for Bedford Public Schools from 1987 – 1995.  He was a member of the Conn-Wiesenberger American Legion. Don enjoyed boating, camping, but most of all spending time with his grandkids.  For over 30 years, Don spent his winters in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with his family and many friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; children, M. Mark (Jyl) Mesteller and Kathlene Mesteller Bankowski; 3 grandchildren, Lindi (Scott) Sallach, Bryce (Koury) Bankowski, Chad Mesteller; 4 great grandchildren. Brock, Tenley, Tyler and Rylee.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will from 4-7 pm, Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where a memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the Bedford Fire Department or the Alzheimer’s Association. www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
